How to choose a counselor
Choosing a counselor is an important component of the therapeutic process. When you have chosen a counselor whether by referral, insurance, or word of mouth, read up on the counselor’s bio, location, insurance, and theory from which they practice.
One of the things I tell people when they are looking for a counselor is that there is a counselor for everyone but not every counselor is for every person. If you meet with a counselor and don’t feel comfortable, KEEP LOOKING! Having a counselor that you are comfortable with is, in my opinion, one of the most important aspects of the therapeutic process.
